“Upper West Regional Minister assures Chiefs and people of Daffiama, of addressing security situation in the region”

Daffiama Naa, Naa Dekongman Domalee John has called on the Upper West Regional Minster to address the security situation in the region. He indicated that Daffiama was a very peaceful community, until recent times when notorious armed robbers who operates two miles away from the community terrorize them and making the place insecure for the indigenes to even travel on the road after 5pm.

Naa Domalee, made this call when the Upper West Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih paid a courtesy call on him at his Palace on 23rd April, 2019 to introduce himself as the new Regional Minister and seek for their support and blessings in the quest to work with chiefs and their people in the region.

The Paramount Chief indicated that, Daffiama Traditional Council is made up of eighteen divisional and sub divisional stools and are descendants of the Mamprugu and Dagbaani people. Their nearest relations are the Busa people where they moved from and finally came and settled in Daffiama. Both communities have good relationship and attend each other’s funerals and festivals.

He used the opportunity to call on government to construct some major roads in the district.

According to him, some of the roads were too bad to the extent that communal labour would not help.
Naa Domalee again called on government to continue and complete the Dam project it started in the community to enable farmers use them for the dry season farming, since the rains were about to start.

Dr. Hafiz Bin salih in addressing the chiefs and people of Daffiama indicated that he sees the chieftaincy institution as a very critical stakeholder in the governance architecture of the country. He said, government cannot do it alone and that government would have to partner with Traditional Authorities to implement its policies.

“Government cannot do it alone but would have to partner with Traditional Authorities in implementing its policies. I find in you a very relevant chief, not only in this region, but the entire country”, he noted.

He also noted that experienced chiefs like Daffiama Naa who was a public servant, would always be consulted for ideas when the need arise. He said the RCC had taken note of all the concerns raised by the Paramount Chief and that the appropriate authorities would be called upon to take necessary actions as soon as possible especially, the roads and security concerns.

The Upper West Regional Minister continued his tour in the region paying courtesy calls on paramount chiefs to introduce himself to them and to seek for their blessing and support in the efforts to work with chiefs and their people to accelerate the development of the region. The courtesy calls on the paramount chiefs in the region are also aimed at providing him a platform to interact with the chiefs and know their challenges.

The Minister first visited the Paramount Chief of Issa Traditional Area, Naa Yelekuang Bawille II and his elders and later visited the paramount chief of Daffiama.
