In a landmark broadcast on Radio Upper West, the newly appointed Upper West Regional Minister, Hon. Charles Lwanga Puozuing Esq, passionately shared his grand vision for the holistic development of the Upper West Region. Taking to the airwaves on the 11th of February, 2025, Hon. Puozuing eloquently outlined his strategic focus on Youth Empowerment and Infrastructure development as pivotal areas for progress and prosperity in the region.

 

With a deep-rooted commitment to equipping the youth with the essential knowledge and skills needed to excel in a myriad of career paths, the Minister emphasized the critical role of vocational training in youth development. Recognizing agriculture as the backbone of the Upper West Region, the Minister revealed plans to establish a Farmers Service Center in the Sissala West district and implement modernized agricultural practices to empower farmers and enhance productivity.

 

Turning his attention to infrastructure challenges, Hon. Puozuing acknowledged the dilapidated state of road networks in the region and vowed to prioritize road construction efforts. Collaborating with neighboring regions such as the Upper East, Savannah, and Bono Regions, the Minister emphasized the collective approach to addressing infrastructure development as a top priority.

 

Further underscoring his commitment to public safety, Hon. Puozuing highlighted the importance of fire prevention measures and announced plans to conduct thorough inspections of markets across the region to mitigate fire risks effectively. With a strong focus on gender equality and financial inclusion, the Minister revealed the imminent establishment of a Women’s Bank in the regional capital, offering financial assistance to women at low-interest rates.

 

In response to concerns from the Sissala community regarding appointments, Hon. Puozuing urged patience and understanding, assuring that all voices would be heard and considered in the ongoing government formation process. Emphasizing a focus on genuine development initiatives rather than gossip and rumors, the Minister stressed the need for constructive dialogue and collaboration towards the overarching goal of regional progress.
