Empowering the Youth of Upper West Region: Yison Tech Hub’s Initiative Gains Strong Support from the Upper West Regional Minister Hon. Charles Lwanga Puozuing Esq

In a bid to address the skills gap and unemployment challenges facing the youth of the Upper West Region, Yison Tech Hub recently held a productive meeting with Hon. Charles Lwanga Puozuing Esq, the Upper West Regional Minister. The purpose of the courtesy call was to introduce their partner from PUM Netherlands and present a proposal focused on promoting the empowerment of women, youth, and vulnerable populations through inclusive and sustainable agricultural development.
During the engaging discussion, Yison Tech Hub, along with a team of experts led by the Executive Director, outlined their plans to train and equip young people in marketing, computer building, and agriculture/fishing. The emphasis was on creating sustainable employment opportunities for the youth across the eleven districts of the region.
Jill de Bruijn is a volunteer from PUM Netherlands and also a lecturer and specialist at the Rotterdam Business School, providing valuable insights during the discussion. The team highlighted the challenges faced by artisans in the construction industry, and the need for tailored training programs to address these issues.
Hon. Charles Lwanga Puozuing Esq commended Yison Tech Hub for their initiative and expressed his support for the proposed programs. Drawing from his own farming experience, the Regional Minister shared practical insights on agriculture and offered to host the team on his farm to provide hands-on guidance. His dedication to supporting initiatives that improve livelihoods and promote skills development among the youth was evident throughout the meeting.
The collaborative efforts between Yison Tech Hub and the Upper West Regional Coordinating Council signify a positive step towards empowering the youth and creating self-reliant individuals capable of contributing to the region’s socio-economic growth. The commitment shown by both parties to work together to develop a skilled workforce is commendable and holds promise for a brighter future for the youth of the Upper West Region.
