*Wa, July 1, 2026* — The Upper West Region joined the rest of Ghana on Wednesday to observe the second National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, under the theme “Resetting Our Values to Build the Ghana We Want.”
In a demonstration of the region’s religious harmony, the Upper West Regional Minister, Hon. Charles Lwanga Puozuing, Esq., took part in observances at both the Central Mosque in Wa and the Methodist Church, delivering a consistent message of national renewal to the people of the region across both faith communities.
Delivering the Regional Minister’s address, Hon. Puozuing called on Ghanaians to reclaim the virtues of integrity, discipline, unity and service that have long defined the nation, stressing that nation-building begins in homes, schools, and communities before it can be seen in policy and infrastructure.
In a powerful homily on Nehemiah 5 at the Methodist Church, Very Rev. Samuel Asare-Antwako, Superintendent Minister of the Methodist Church, Wa, challenged citizens to confront the “internal enemies” of corruption, greed and exploitation, urging a genuine return to godly values rather than mere ceremony.
The event brought together religious leaders, chiefs, security chiefs, heads of regional departments, and RCC staff in a united show of faith and patriotism, reaffirming the region’s commitment to peace, unity and inclusive development. The Regional Minister’s presence at both the mosque and the church underscored the Upper West Region’s tradition of interfaith cooperation in pursuit of shared national values.
