On May 1, 2026, Hon. Charles Lwanga Puzoing Esq., the Upper West Regional Minister, addressed a vibrant crowd at Jirapa Naayiri Park in celebration of May Day. Representing President John Dramani Mahama, he highlighted this year’s theme: “Pivoting to Growth, Jobs and Sustainable Livelihoods Beyond Macroeconomic Sustainability.”
Minister Puzoing called for sustainable local development through participatory governance, referencing the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936). He emphasized the government’s initiatives, including the Youth in Afforestation Programme and the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme, aimed at tackling youth unemployment.
He urged collaboration among government, labor, the private sector, and traditional leaders, stating, “Together, we can build an Upper West Region where opportunities flourish.”
The event was a powerful tribute to the dignity of labor and a collective commitment to a prosperous future for Ghana.
Long Live the Workers of Ghana! Long Live the Upper West Region! Long Live Our Beloved Republic of Ghana!
