On May 12, 2026, the Upper West Regional Minister, Hon. Charles Lwanga Puozuing Esq., marked a significant milestone for the Wa West District with the groundbreaking of its first technical and vocational education and training (TVET) school in the eastern corridor at Ga. This initiative brings to fruition a promise made by President John Dramani Mahama during the 2024 campaign, reaffirming the NDC government\u2019s commitment to empowering local communities through practical skills training.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

This landmark facility aims to enhance self-employment and employability for the youth, addressing the urgent need for vocational education in a region that has historically lacked secondary educational institutions. Many families have faced financial strain sending their children outside the district, a barrier this new school seeks to eliminate.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Wa West MP Peter Lanchene Toobu emphasized the vision of linking the school with international TVET institutions to expand students\u2019 horizons. Meanwhile, local leaders welcomed the initiative while highlighting the need for improved infrastructure and educational resources in the community.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

With a comprehensive plan for seven facilities, including classrooms, dormitories, and workshops, this project signifies one of the most extensive infrastructure efforts in the district this year.
